Technology

Our Technology curriculum at Abersychan School empowers students to become innovative thinkers and skilled creators, ready to shape a sustainable and inclusive future. Our curriculum blends creativity, critical thinking and practical expertise across Product Design, Textiles and Food & Nutrition.

Students engage with real-world challenges, exploring how design influences everyday life; from the clothes we wear to the food we eat. They gain hands-on experience with materials, tools and processes, while learning about nutrition, sustainability and ethical production.

In Product Design, students solve problems through purposeful design and prototyping. In Textiles, they explore the artistic and cultural significance of fabric, developing construction and design skills. In Food & Nutrition, students acquire essential life skills, understanding healthy eating, food science and the environmental impact of food choices.

Our curriculum encourages experimentation, collaboration and thoughtful reflection. Students are supported to respond to user needs, consider ethical and environmental factors, and take pride in their creative decisions. Ultimately, we aim to develop confident, capable students who are passionate about making a difference - whether through design, innovation, or everyday choices that benefit their communities and the wider world.
