Health and Wellbeing
The vision for Health and Wellbeing is to empower every student with the knowledge, skills and confidence to navigate life’s opportunities and challenges. Our curriculum supports students in developing a holistic understanding of physical health, mental health, emotional wellbeing and social wellbeing. Students are encouraged to explore how the different components of wellbeing are interconnected and how maintaining good health is essential for personal development.
Physical Education plays a central role in our curriculum, enabled by state of the art learning environments, including a new 3G pitch, new netball courts, a new dance studio and a refurbished sport hall. We provide students with regular opportunities to develop a broad range of physical skills and movement competencies.
Through high-quality, inclusive and engaging physical activities, students build strength, coordination, agility and endurance. They are encouraged to set personal goals, challenge themselves and experience the joy of movement in both individual and team contexts. These physical skills are not only vital for lifelong fitness, but also contribute to improved focus, emotional regulation and self-esteem.
By nurturing confident, reflective and compassionate individuals, we aim to inspire students to continue their wellbeing journey beyond school. Health and Wellbeing at Abersychan School is not just about education; it’s about equipping young people with the tools to lead fulfilling, balanced and healthy lives.
